5 Tips for Using a Disposable Vape
Disposable vapes have taken the world by storm for the past decade, so if you're considering jumping on board, we fully support you. The thing is, making the switch between smoking traditional cigarettes to vaping can need a little time to get adjusted. It's an entirely different experience.
Making the switch is a great decision, but we understand that it can be a little daunting at first. If you're completely new to vaping and you're eager for an introduction, you're in the right place. Here are some tips to help you along the way.
What is a Disposable Vape?
While vapes have had a relatively long and varied history at this stage, one thing has stayed the same throughout their purpose. That, of course, is to provide users with a nicotine hit.
Fashioned initially to look like a cigarette, vapes were designed to replace traditional smoking directly. They were marketed as the “healthier alternative” due to the lack of all those other substances, such as tar.
Nowadays, the world of vaping has skyrocketed. Now, you’ll find people who never smoked a cigarette in their lives vaping; it’s the new trend. You can find vapes in all sorts of flavours, with varying nicotine strengths, and several different models available.
The disposable vape does what it says on the tin: you use it until all the juice is gone, and then you dispose of it (responsibly, of course).
How Does a Disposable Vape Work?
Here we come to the potentially tricky part. If you’ve mastered the art of smoking traditional cigarettes, you’ll likely be a little taken aback by the apparent complicated hi-tech of a disposable vape. It’s understandable; we’ve all been there.
But we’re here to tell you it’s not half as awkward as it looks. In fact, while the inner trimmings of the vape pen are pretty advanced, smoking - or rather vaping - is not—especially the disposable ones.
Where the vape mods have changeable cylinders and coils and who knows what else, the disposable option is much more user-friendly. Just take a breath. After that, there are just a few tips for you to consider:
1. Check the Vape is Working Correctly
As with most products, there are variations to consider, but generally, there are two ways to check your disposable vape pen is working. Both include an indicator light.
First, we’ll look at the models of vape that have an on/off button. Simple and easy to use. Just click that button before you plan on using the vape. If everything works as it should, you’ll see the indicator light switch on. As soon as you see that, you’re free to go ahead and inhale as you please.
The second option has no on/off button. Instead, the indicator light should come on as you inhale. Sometimes it is a solid light, and sometimes it will flash. Either way, you’re good to go if the light is on. If not, it might be worth looking into it, as your vape might not be vaporising much of that liquid.
2. Inhale Steadily
Now for a bit of science: it's best to do so steadily rather than sharply due to how the coil inside the vape heats up when you inhale. It’s important to remember that vapes are pretty different from smoking, and especially if you’re not used to it, they can take you by surprise with the hit of nicotine.
Inhaling too sharply may cause you to feel light-headed and lead to your vape running out of juice long before it should.
3. Store Your Vape Properly
Like any product we consume, disposable vapes have a use-by expiry date. And, just like any product we consume, there are ways we can elongate that time. While you might put your milk in the fridge to keep it fresh longer, your vape prefers somewhere cool and dry.
Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture to keep it lasting as long as possible!
4. Don't Try to Disassemble It
Tempting as it might be to try and get a better understanding of the mechanics of your disposable vape, you must keep that curiosity in your head. Or watch a YouTube video on it?
Any attempt at disassembling your disposable vape pen may lead to compromising your device's safety, which compromise is the last thing you want to do. If you’re interested in the kind of vape that you can play with, check out the larger models, such as rechargeable ones or mods.
5. Dispose of Safely When Done
For safety, the environment, and the goodness in your heart, make sure to dispose of your vape correctly. And by that, we mean to take it to a hazardous waste facility where it can be properly and safely disposed of.
Sure, you could throw it in the nearest rubbish bin, but how will that sit on your conscience knowing your little vape will be there in 100s of years? We love recycling, and we hope you do, too!

Disposable vapes are pre-charged vape devices that come pre-filled with e-liquid. While reusable vapes such as vape pens and mods can be reused, disposable vapes become unusable once you exhaust the e-liquid tank or the battery (unless the disposable vape is rechargeable).
There are all sorts of reasons you might be considering a nicotine-free vape. Maybe you enjoy the flavour, or maybe you're considering using it as an aid to quit smoking.
