The Ontario flavored vape ban also includes a nicotine cap. Vape products containing nicotine levels higher than 20mg can only be sold in adult-only specialty stores, which are also prohibited from having product displays visible from the outside.

These new regulations, in partnership with the Canadian federal vape laws, balance out the need to address the appeal of vaping to minors, while still keeping adult consumers provided for.

The Ontario flavor ban will of course have a significant impact on both consumers and retailers of vape products.

For convenience stores and gas stations, their product inventory has decreased. Where they used to sell a wider variety of vape products, they are now only allowed to sell menthol, mint, and tobacco flavors.

This could affect their sales, as those looking to purchase flavored vape products will gravitate toward specialty stores, instead.

On the other hand, those specialty vape shops might see an increase in their own sales, as they now have exclusivity on flavored vape products. Being the only places where adults can legally purchase flavors other than tobacco and menthol may improve their businesses overall.

Of course, this could have long-term effects on the market as consumer traffic and demand shift and redistribute.

On the consumer side, the flavored vape ban in Ontario may mean that those who prefer flavored vapes will need to visit stores that specifically carry and sell them, and those stores might not always be as accessible.

Consumer purchasing habits might also be altered. They will be limited to fewer stores to get their fix, potentially influencing how often they buy and how much.
